Evolving?

What does that really mean?

Webster’s meaning, is ” develop gradually, esp. from a simple to a more complex form”. What a great definition of the word, I could not have come up with anything better. It’s nothing worse in my opinion when one does not evolve.

Things are much different now then they were 20 years ago, hell let’s say 10 years ago. So ask yourself in the last 10 years, what have I learned, what bad habits have I broken, and what goals were met?

I must say, personally speaking, I have learned so much in the last 10 years. Not by sitting in a classroom, just everyday life. Life has taught me so much, it’s taught me compassion, it’s also taught me to love all people no matter what our differences might be.

I can truly say I am a full-fledged adult, not just by age, everyday I’m evolving.

Believe it or not, I’m pretty lost for

1 May

Believe it or not, I’m pretty lost for words, I give all praise to God for all of his many blessings!

Through it all I’m still here, and not only am I here, my place is growing. For such a small space with no sign, limited parking, and of course you know who ^ …

God has brought me through and I believe the best is yet to come. What I’ve learned through all of this is to be consistent, have tough skin, stay prayed up, and endure. I was once told from one of my favorite mentors, “It takes a special person, to build, and especially from ground up.”.

I think out loud a lot on my blog, because the majority of you have been so supportive of my continued growth, and in my heart I really believe you understand where I’m coming from.

I love you all and you have shown me how much you love me back.

April 25th! Geeeeezz!  Really, where does it really

April 25th! Geeeeezz!  Really, where does it really go!?

I was told years ago, the older you get, the faster time passes. And, when you think about it. It waits for no one.. People are born and die everyday. And, time stays the same..

But never the less, it’s almost that time of year for me again. Come June 6th I will be celebrating another birthday, lords willing. Friday June 7th will be my pre-party here at the bar. Saturday the 8th, I will be hosting my annual cocktail party from 6 to 9 pm here at the bar.

And, the after party immediately following!

Please join me during these celebrations!

More information to come.

Greetings!

Sorry I’ve been missing in action. Please believe me, I’ve been totally busy de-cluttering!

It actually feels good, to get rid of so much shit. I had no idea that I had become a hoarder!

I had enough stuff to furnish two friends entire houses, now you know thats a shame…

With all that said, I’m glad to know all of the things I have collected is now placed in good homes. I also switched out a couple chairs and a sofa at the bar which fits perfectly in that space.

Got a new hair cut, and have been sticking to my diet! I have been having this conversation with my close friends and staff about reinventing ourselves.

Changing it up a little bit…

Maturing, and growing…

I would have never thought in a million years, that I would walk around with an almost bald head. I also never thought I would have only one sofa in a living room.

I’m so excited about this new chapter in my life, I have been looking forward to it. I also believe that God is preparing me for something greater.

The theme song amongst my dearest friends is “Started from the bottom, and now we’re here!”.

Can you believe 25 years went by that fast! I’m proud to say in my circle we all have worked hard, and none of us was born with a silver spoon. By Gods grace, he has brought us this far and I believe the best is yet to come.

I love you all so much, and I truly appreciate you.

And, it goes without saying, thank you for letting me be myself.

Greetings!

Hopefully, your Easter was as eventful as mine! Started at Patrice and Stan’s, what a lovely time!

Then at my extended families home, I chowed down on the most amazing sweet potatoes I’ve ever eaten, amongst other great things.

It was good to eat amongst great people enjoying each others company. My Easter put me in the spirit of gratefulness. The reality was, I was amongst great people.

It also made me understand even more my role. I believe all of us have a role to play, and the sooner we learn to play our role the happier we will be.

I so enjoy embracing my age, boy have I learned a lot! With that being said, it’s my mission to serve as a mentor to young people leading by example. By doing that, I’m just Darnell, I can only present to you who I truly am.

I love you all so much, whether you know it or not, you have definitely been the wing beneath my wings.

It’s me again, not a lot to say, just encouraging all of you to keep on keeping on!

Knowing we all get the same 24 hours, I see it everyday I’m here on this earth. Thank God!

We all go through the same bullshit no matter who we are. For those of you who are making a difference in other peoples lives our children; our elderly, our working class, our rich, and our poor, whether you know it or not we all are connected. We are human.

I’m encouraging you, like you encourage me everyday I walk in the bar and I see your beautiful faces.

Heart to heart and breast to breast.

Love,

Darnell

What a world we live in, but when you think about it. We all are in our own world. It may sound crazy, but in my word its reality.. Think about it… Are you on the ban wagon of someone else’s world…..

Aside 13 Mar

When you think about great people who have made history. Such as, Beethoven, Einstein, Picasso (Geniuses). Which most people thought they were either peculiar or naturally born crazy.

Well, its sad to say, that mediocre is now the norm. Call me crazy, call me peculiar, even call me eccentric. But, never will you call me mediocre.

Have a great week!

Aside 5 Mar

I was so stressed Friday moping and pouting making it very obvious that something was on my mind. Well my buddies Frank and James came to the bar and instantly detected something was wrong & immediately told me look, get the hell away from me with that moping and pouting.

Unexpectedly they actually moved from the table from where I was sitting, and said these words “You will not bring that negative energy into my space tonight”. I was shocked but, then I thought about it and they were absolutely right.

So many times we want people to joint our pity parties. What they taught me was just because you are invited to a pity party does not mean you have to go. Its not rude to remove yourself from negative energy….

It also made me realize what I was complaining about was small stuff. And, I try to make it my business to never sweat the small stuff. We complain we get upset we get all in a tizzy about small shit that really don’t matter. Keep your energy up!

And remember… Just because your invited to a pity party doesn’t mean you have to go!
